Japanese Serrated Sickle for Harvesting Herbs & Weeding – SK-5 Carbon Steel

Japanese sickle saw with a serrated blade. Just like we do, you can use it for trimming and harvesting your aromatic herbs, and for cutting weeds. A tool that's just as at home in a family garden as in a professional's hands.

The curved, serrated blade measures 170 mm. The tool is ultra-lightweight (about 100 g) yet sturdy, and the 210 mm wooden handle is comfortable and pleasant to hold.
The blade is made of SK-5 carbon steel and hardened through quenching.
Remember to wipe the blade before storing it after use.

The motion for using this tool falls somewhere between a "classic" sickle swing and a pulling-saw motion, meaning the cut follows the direction of the blade. It makes the work incredibly smooth! You'll enjoy your time in the garden even more.

Our advice: cut by sawing along the axis of the blade. If you pull too much at an angle to the cutting line, you risk chipping the edge. Don't plant the blade into a wooden support the way you might with European sickles.
When the teeth wear down, you can keep using the tool by sharpening it a few times with a whetstone or a diamond sharpener.
